Many District initiatives have helped to prepare our staff and students for Project PR.I.D.E.
2007-2008 - NASD transitions to a web-based student information system accessible from any computer. All teachers transition to online gradebooks.
2007-2011 - Pennsylvania's Classrooms for the Future initiative - Laptops, projectors, Interactive whiteboards and many hours of training
2010-2015 - Northampton Area SD is one of the first districts in the region to adopt Google Apps for Education for communication and collaboration
2012-2016 - Keystones to Opportunities grant - provides training in higher order thinking skills, engaging students, authentic connections and technology integration
2012-2013 - Northampton Area SD deploys Chromebooks and iPads as mobile learning devices in some district classrooms
2014-2015 - Anytime, Anywhere Learning Initiative planning committee
October 2014 - AAL committee meeting - discussing the "why" of 1:1 programs
October 2014 - AAL committee site visit to Wilson Area SD
November 2014 - AAL committee meeting - Review the research behind 1:1 and discuss options for needed professional development
December 2014 - AAL committee meeting - Kutztown Area SD Director of Technology guest speaker discussing life in a 1:1 school district
January 2015 - Site visit to Catasauqua Area SD
January 2015 - AAL committee meeting - reviewing student led technology help desk solutions, reviewing device selection
March 2015 - AAL committee meeting - discussion: "Is 1:1 right for Northampton, right now?"
March 2015 - All NASD educational leaders - must read article
June 2015 - Educational leaders attend an Apple executive briefing to study and plan the course for student-centered, modern learning
2015-2016 - All secondary staff receives initial training in Schoology Learning Management System
June 2015 - Cadre of District teachers are trained as Schoology trainers
August 2015 - Teachers in grades 6-12 receive introductory Schoology training. Begin digitizing classroom activities
January 2016 - In-school pilot project issues Chromebooks to each student in grade 6
2016-2017 - Project PRIDE expanded to grades 6-7-8 at Northampton Area Middle School
August 2016 - Chromebooks to be distributed to students in grades 6-7-8 prior to school.
One-to-one planning committee established at NAHS
Site visits to Wilson SD, Methacton SD, Salisbury SD, Northampton Area MS.
Professional development and planning details for distribution, technical support, printing, policies, and procedures.
2017-2018 - Project PRIDE expanded to include grades 6-12.
